The SEO Marketing Specialist is responsible for executing the initial SEO Optimization process for new client campaigns. This process begins during the first week of onboarding and plays a crucial role in setting the foundation for strong local search visibility. The specialist will independently perform detailed local optimization tasks, ensuring completion within 8 business days from the start of onboarding.
This position requires technical expertise in SEO, analytical research capabilities, and strong attention to detail in handling client assets, profiles, and competitive data.
Key ResponsibilitiesPhase 1: NAP Information Setup (Days 1–2)
Objective: Establish accurate and consistent business information across all client assets.
- Review the client’s Kickoff Questionnaire in their Google Drive folder to gather logins, credentials, and necessary access details.
- Locate the client’s Asset folder to retrieve logos, images, and videos required for profile optimization.
- Make a copy of the Blueprint // Local SEO Metrics Template and save it in the client’s Google Drive folder.
- Complete the NAP (Name, Address, Phone) Template, ensuring accuracy and consistency across all platforms.
- Collaborate with the Strategist via Slack to resolve any unclear client data or missing information.
Phase 2: SERP & Competitor Research (Days 3–5)
Objective: Analyze the local search landscape and identify optimization opportunities.
- Conduct manual Google searches for the client’s primary keywords to evaluate SERP results and identify top-performing local competitors.
- Research additional local keywords relevant to the client’s industry and service area.
- Document findings in the Competition Analysis tab inside the Blueprint // Local SEO Metrics Template.
- Highlight insights related to keyword intent, ranking difficulty, and content strategy used by competitors.
Phase 3: GBP (Google Business Profile) Optimization (Days 6–8)
Objective: Optimize and enhance the client’s Google Business Profile for maximum local visibility.
- Create a copy of Blueprint // GBP Optimization Content and save it to the client’s Google Drive folder.
- Determine the Main and Subcategories for the client’s Google Business Profile (GBP) based on:
- Industry relevance
- Competitor analysis
- Keyword search volume and local intent
- Use the client’s website to validate subcategories, main categories, and service areas.
- Utilize the Pleper Chrome Extension to research category insights for relevant local keywords (e.g., “car accident lawyer in Miami”) and identify additional relevant GBP categories.
- Perform a Local Falcon scan for the client’s main keyword using a 9x9 radius to assess geographic ranking performance.
- Record results, document insights, and analyze competitor visibility trends.
- Present key takeaways to the Strategist for alignment on future optimization phases.
Additional Duties
- Maintain an organized and consistent file structure for all clients within Google Drive.
- Communicate progress updates to the Strategist and Project Manager daily through Slack or project management software.
- Provide detailed reports summarizing actions taken, findings, and recommendations.
- Stay up to date on Google Business Profile updates, local ranking factors, and local SEO tools (e.g., Local Falcon, Pleper, BrightLocal, Whitespark).
- Collaborate with the SEO team to refine internal Local SEO Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Qualifications
- Experience: 1–3 years in SEO, with specific focus on Local SEO and Google Business Profile optimization.
- Skills & Tools:
- Google Business Profile management
- Local Falcon, Pleper, Google Search Console, Google Analytics
- Excel/Google Sheets (for metrics and reporting templates)
- Strong research and analytical skills
- Understanding of NAP consistency, citation management, and local ranking factors
- Soft Skills:
- Detail-oriented and organized
