HOUCC - Sr. Marketing Representative
This position is responsible for supporting the marketing of a product or group of products to achieve annual objectives. Incumbent handles the business for existing clients, responds to inquiries by potential clients. Incumbent assist with the expansion of the business by researching the market to find new suppliers, customers or methods that the product can be used in other segments of the market. Participates in the negotiation of business deals, may coordinate the transportation logistics, requests credit analyses, monitors the status of all contracts and maintains the accounts receivable and accounts payable.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assists with the promotion of new business for a product or group of products. Researches the market to determine potential customers. Assists with the establishment of contact with potential customers, participates in the initiation of commercial business/trial orders and builds a business relationship. Assist with the preparation of bids, and if successful with the bid, assists in the negotiation of all facets of the contract. Once a company is a customer, incumbent seeks to expand the business, and the services provided. The business may be import, export, offshore or domestic.
- Assist with the monitoring of business projects, sponsored by agencies such as the World Bank or other organizations operating, in the world markets. Provides to manager a preliminary review of the projects with an analysis of the potential business opportunities. May also research other business opportunities by determining who are the suppliers/manufacturers, the buyers and how the product could be adapted so that the market could be increased. Builds a network of business contacts.
- Maintains existing business with established clients, by processing their orders, ensuring that their purchase arrives on an efficient, timely basis and addressing their inquiries. Consistently works to expand and strengthen the client relationship.
- Prepares (or may supervise preparation of) the documents needed for the financing of a project. If required for the contract completes the forms for the Bill for Collection or Letter of Credit. Coordinates with the Finance Department for the processing of these documents and ensures that the delivery schedule can be met.
- For both established and new clients, incumbent may assist in the negotiation of sales contracts with the objective of maximizing profit yet providing value to both the supplier and customer. Requires cost analyses and cash flow analyses to determine the appropriate buying and selling prices. May prepare the documents required for the processing of the business transaction.
- May coordinate the freight and shipping arrangements for incumbent's own business deals and for other traders' deals as well. Requires coordinating between shipping lines, air transport companies, freight forwarders, customs brokers etc. Monitors the status of all deliveries and intercedes when necessary to ensure the timely and safe delivery of the product(s). May assist the management of a subsidiary that originated from a segment of Mitsui business.
- Reads all pertinent material related to the industry to keep informed of all trends, new products, and general economic conditions in the industry and the global markets. Must be able to use this information to adjust/adapt the business so as to exploit opportunities in the market. Marketing Manager.
- Requests credit reviews for suppliers and customers from the credit department. In conjunction with the Credit Managers, incumbent determines the level of credit to be extended. Monitors payment schedule. Determines interest due on late payments. Prepares review reports showing the status of the transactions. Marketing Manager.
- Participates in projects as assigned by the manager.

DESIRABLE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
Minimum 3 years’ experience or a combination of training and experience which indicates the ability to do the job. Requires knowledge of international trade procedures, customs laws, bookkeeping principles etc. Familiarity with procedures for shipping, air transportation and freight forwards. Must have working knowledge of Excel and Word. Good communication and negotiation skills are required. Should possess the ability to adapt to a cross-cultural environment.
