The Marketing Coordinator 1 is responsible for overseeing the development, coordination, and implementation of strategic marketing initiatives that support the goal to increase student meal participation and community engagement. This role manages marketing efforts for district-wide events and campaigns, ensuring alignment with department goals and brand standards. The position works closely with cross-functional teams, campus staff, vendors, and community partners to deliver creative and effective promotional strategies. The Marketing Coordinator also supports project timelines, maintains the Nutrition Services HUB as a centralized resource platform, oversees content creation.
1. Support the planning and execution of marketing strategies for special events and promotions, ensuring materials and campaigns are timely, engaging, and aligned with Nutrition Services goals and district guidelines.
2. Coordinate the planning and layout of on-site events, including signage, branding, and logistics, to ensure maximum visibility and impact.
3. Oversee the department's digital communications, including managing social media content calendars, scheduling, post-performance tracking, and managing photo/video submissions from events.
4. Ensure all marketing materials meet HISD and Nutrition Services branding standards, reviewing content before final production or publication.
5. Capture and curate high-quality photos at events and in cafeterias to support campaigns, publications, digital platforms, and internal documentation.
6. Coordinate timelines, approvals, and deliverables for all marketing and promotional projects, ensuring alignment with department calendars, campaign goals, and event deadlines.

Maintain and regularly update the Nutrition Services HUB, ensuring staff facing marketing resources, guides, and event assets are organized and accessible.
8. Design marketing materials and assist the Graphic Designer on visual assets such as flyers, posters, digital signage, social media graphics, and event collateral to ensure brand consistency and campaign effectiveness.
9. Maintain and oversee the department's marketing project tracker, ensuring all campaigns, events, and design requests are updated, assigned, and completed on schedule, while providing regular status reports to the Special Events and Promotions team.
10. Travel to schools and district locations (approx. 50% of the time) to support event execution, oversee marketing setup, and document initiatives for visibility and reporting purposes.

Bachelor’s Degree
Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing and or Business preferred

5 to 7 years
Strong Communication and writing skills. Proficiency in social media platforms and management tools.
Knowledge of graphic design software (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite). Experience in photography and videography, including editing.
Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines. Creative and detail-oriented mindset with strong organizational skills.
Ability to lead teams and interact with large groups

Work Leadership. Regularly provides project management or team leadership to a group of two or more employees but does not have formal supervisory responsibility. Leading and directing is restricted to monitoring work and providing guidance on escalated issues. Most of work time is spent performing many of the same duties they are leading
Work is substantially complex, varied and regularly requires the selection and application of technical and detailed guidelines. Independent judgment is required to identify, select, and apply the most appropriate methods as well as interpret precedent. Position regularly makes recommendations to management on areas of significance to the department. Supervision received typically consists of providing direction on the more complex projects and new job duties and priorities.
