Executive Director, Marketing and Communications
The Executive Director of Marketing and Communications provides senior leadership for Prairie View A&M University's integrated marketing and communications strategy, advancing institutional visibility, brand identity, enrollment, reputation, and stakeholder engagement. Reporting to the Associate Vice President for Marketing and Communications, this role develops and executes comprehensive marketing plans that align university priorities with audience-focused messaging, paid media strategy, digital advertising, content development, and internal and external communications.
The Executive Director oversees strategic marketing communications, brand positioning, advertising content, promotional messaging, campaign development, media relations, crisis communications, publication services, social media, digital engagement, campus marketing, and web services. The position plans and manages radio, television, print, digital media, and targeted advertising projects designed to reach priority audiences and produce measurable results. This leader also helps guide creative direction, strengthens consistency across university channels, and uses data, analytics, market trends, and emerging technologies to improve campaign performance and communication effectiveness.
The ideal candidate will bring significant experience in marketing, communications, public relations, or a related field; strong writing, editing, presentation, project management, and supervisory skills; and proven ability to lead teams, manage vendors, advise senior leaders, and collaborate across a complex organization. Experience with digital marketing, paid media, content management platforms, audience engagement, and issues management is essential. The successful candidate will be both a strategic thinker and an effective implementer, comfortable balancing long-term planning with the fast-paced demands of a dynamic university environment.
